Sertoma Videos

Sertoma Videos - Thanks to Dr. David Myers
Sertoma, a national service organization which promotes hearing health through its 540 local clubs (much as Lions Clubs focus on vision), launched a national campaign to introduce hearing loops to their communities (see here). In support of this effort, they created the following three 2-minute videos:

Greater Miami Chapter

Who We Are

About the Hearing Loss Association of Greater Miami
The Hearing Loss Association of Greater Miami is an affiliate of the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA), the nation’s largest membership and advocacy organization for people with hearing loss. HLAA opens the world of communication to people with hearing loss through information, education, advocacy, and support.

INFORMATION – We provide information from technological and medical advances to coping and parenting strategies. We can help you become an informed consumer on what options are available to you to help you make the best decisions on how to deal with hearing loss.

EDUCATION – Our primary purpose is to  educate ourselves, families, friends, coworkers, teachers, hearing healthcare providers, industry, government, and others about hearing loss.

ADVOCACY – HLAA is a leading voice in improving  communication access for people with hearing loss in the workplace, hotels, schools, court systems, medical and entertainment  facilities.

SUPPORT – We provide an opportunity for association among people  with hearing loss, their friends, families, and professionals.

Our clear, straightforward message has changed the lives of many people.

Hearing loss is a daily challenge you can overcome. You do not have to face hearing loss alone.

What do we do?

The chapter holds monthly meetings on the second Monday of the month, from 1 p.m.  to 3.p.m at the A.D. Barnes Park Leisure Access Center in Miami Florida. A variety of speakers provide information on all aspects of hearing loss and numerous other topics.

You Do Not Have to Face Hearing Loss Alone

Find Support in HLAA Chapter. The Hearing Loss Association of Greater Miami is a supportive organization, where people with all degrees of hearing loss come together to share and learn – and where it’s okay not to hear well.
Here you can:
  • Talk with others who have hearing loss.
  • Learn coping strategies, about advocacy and the laws that protect you, and find out about local resources.
  • Learn about the latest technology – hearing aids, phones, cochlear implants, captioning, hearing assistive technology, and more – all to help you live well with hearing loss.
  • See how a hearing-friendly environment works to help you with your hearing loss.
Join the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) When you join HLAA you support the work that benefits over 36 million people with hearing loss in the United States. That includes you or someone you know. View benefits of joining HLAA.
